I am an accountant by profession whose daughter is a Master Graduate urban designer/planner who attended Mike Lin's 2 day seminar in 2013.  She invited me to join her for the 9 days seminar in Jan. 2014.  We had a wonderful experience being in this exceptional inspiring and motivational class.  There were students of all ages - 20s,30s,40s,50s and even 60s.  All these people were there to learn to gain more skills to better their design, techniques, and to change and further their careers.  Also, like Mike Lin said, to be not so "tight".
Mike Lin and his professional TAs  spent all day to teach us the 55 principles of Graphics with the outline, tone line, composition and color.  He made the whole experience not tedious but with visual media presentation on his big flat screens around the whole lecture room.  He does not only lecture, he actually shows you on the screen what he is accomplishing and make you aware of what techniques that he is teaching you and the "tricks" of the trade to enhance  your drawings. Everyone were eager to learn in the class in spite of the long hours.
After you attend the class, you will look at the great outdoors and nature with a better view of the world.  The mountains will have a mirage of colors, the sky will have all shades of blue and the clouds will have all the shapes.  You will notice the different ways to draw the trees, and shade and colors.  Mike will name the colors - three amigos, don't forget me etc. to enhance your learning skills.  I don't think that any other graphic teachers will have the special impact that he instills in his students.  He also has his brand of jokes and humor that he will tell during the day to make things more interesting.
Mike treated us to a tour and lunch at his fabulous house in Henderson , it was a designers dream with all the contemporary design furniture.  It was a great field trip.  We also got to visit Hoover dam and took pictures of the gorgeous sunset and read about the history of the building of the dam.  We completed the great day with an evening on the Las Vegas strip enjoying all the architectural buildings such as Arias , the City Centre and the fountains of Bellagio .  Mike pointed all the designs of the buildings and history, some went to the shows there, some had the treat of sumptuous bountiful seafood buffet with everything imaginable to eat at Arias.
You were not only  taught  by Master Lin , the expert of the trade, he also instills his philosophy- Attitude in Life to make the students more aware of the 6 levels of success.  You don't have to be in the art profession to attend the class. Not only did we learn all of Mike's technique, we made lifelong friends with our classmates, TA  and teacher.  It was the best 9 days of our life and I strengthen my bond with my daughter with this special experience.  I recommend that everyone should experience this 9 day inspiring seminar.  Patsy Queen, Dallas, Texas USA

I had the privilege of attending Master Mike Lin's 9 day class this January in Las Vegas, NV.  I have to admit that even as a professional and a college instructor that I was a bit intimidated by the workshop before arriving.  I have wanted to come to this lecture for the better part of ten years or more.  I was definitely "too tight," as Mike would say.  This class has directly affected and improved my abilities to draw, design and render.  This was an amazing and life changing course.  Before arriving I had a bit of a bad attitude towards my craft and was feeling burn't out.  This workshop was the cure.  I left with a ton of confidence in my own abilities as a designer and I believe that I have learned the tricks and techniques that are very important to make me better in all areas of my life.  This workshop will transform you if you are open to it.  I left also feeling that Mike taught me very much about teaching as well.  His teaching ability is truly inspiring.  So were all of the great people that I met at the workshop.  The are all my new friends and I would not hesitate to do it all over again.  Thank you Master Lin and the awesome Las Vegas -January 14 group!

I had the pleasure of attending Mike's 9 Day workshop in Las Vegas.  Mike's approach to drawing is by far one of the most effective techniques that I've ever experienced.  First and foremost, Mike is a phenomenal teacher who understands not only how to draw, but how to convey his process clearly, precisely, and with ease.  Mike takes the stress out of drawing....a true Master and educator.  My ability to draw and render by hand has improved 500% at least.  What is even more amazing is that Mike's lessons also apply to computer graphics.  I have found that my eye has become much more aware of color, line, and form.  And my ability to synthesis all that Mike covered extends far beyond my initial expectation.  Learning to draw was just a fraction of what I gained from Mike's class.  Mike is a life instructor and demonstrates how drawing is a metaphor for life. I will certainly look forward to working as a student of Mike's again very soon.  Besides...the class is worth his humor anyway.....the drawing is just the cherry on top ;]  Thank you Mike!!!!

Having the opportunity to come to Vegas and be in the company of so many passionate and talented designers &artists was truly an incredible experience. I was very appreciative of how patient, thoughtful and generous Mike was during the entire program. His unbiased critiques were where I believe where we learnt the most and progressed further than where we thought we could go. I would highly recommend Mike's course to anyone who had lost the fun spirit of drawing or to any professional wanting to be the most they can be.

Mike, well .... he'll get you with a few jokes along the way :)

Happy Chinese New Year! The workshop in Las Vegas is amazing. I feel lucky to be one of the 63 members. It took me 7 years to finally attend Mike Lin's workshop since Mr Lin gave a 4 hours lecture at my campus in Peking University in 2007. If you are interested to learn how to understand perspective better in an easier way, or you want to improve your watercolor, or simply want to meet more interesting people around the world, you definitely want to join Beloose Workshop. Don't hesitate for another 7 years! You will love it! Thank you, Mike Lin. Hope that you could come to China to have a workshop in the future. We will love you and your workshop.

I finally took Mike's course in 2012 and came back as a teaching assistant for the January 2014 nine day session.  I you haven't yet taken the class, or if you've taken the class and haven't particiapted as a teaching assistant yet you're missing out.

Having taken Mike's 2-day 10 yrs ago at UGA I kinda knew what I was getting into with this course. As a landscape architect with my own company I decided I needed a refresher before hiring my first employees so I took the class and boy was I wrong about what I thought I knew. Well, maybe I just didn't realize how much I'd forgot.

The difference between the 2 and 9 day courses is seemingly irrelevant on paper but the ability to spend the extra time repeating the tricks Mike teaches with supervision is worth the extra time and money. The repetition and multiple critiques forces any fear out of your mind and gives you to confidence to see a blank sheet of paper not as just another chance to screw up a drawing but as a potential masterpiece in the making.

For years, about 10 to be exact, I have wanted to take Mike Lin's workshop. Finally I actually did it, and it surpassed my very high hopes and expectations.
I was timid going into the class, but quickly learned there was no time for that. Mike encourages you to break through your own mental barriers and draw. Just draw! Once you have the courage to put the pen to the paper, he teaches you his tricks and techniques. You will be shocked at your progress in only a few short days. I couldn't believe the difference of my before and after drawings in only four days! And....we were only half way through the course!
In addition to teaching so much about drawing, he finds a way to teach you about yourself. He has an incredible ability to keep you intrigued and entertained through the long, demanding, and wildly fullfilling days. This is truly his stage, and the students his audience. You will find yourself wanting more and more.
The cherry on the sunday is the amazing group of people you have joined forces with to conquer Master Lin's course. The support amongst your peers is refreshing and rejuvenating. I met people that made an impact on me that I will never forget.
Take this course! No matter what your skill set, you will improve beyond your imagination. You will break through your barriers, past your comfort zone, become a better designer and a better person.

I work for a landscape design/build company in Chicago.  All of the designers at my company had taken this workshop when it was formerly in Kansas.  They all told me it would help tremendously.  I would have to agree!  I attended art school and probably learned more tips and tricks to drawing properly than I did in college.  Most of the work I do now revolves around CAD, but I think learning the tricks of freehand drawing/rendering has got me thinking a new way when it comes to my  CAD designs.  My boss even complemented me on my last CAD design, noting that it looked much better than my previous drawings before taking this workshop.  Mike Lin, gets you thinking about design in a whole new way, encouraging looseness and an artistic approach that will help make your designs look great!
